Lutheran Church of the Ascension is a liturgical community formed by Christ in Baptism and gathered around the Word of God, prayer, and the Lord’s Supper. Through His Church, Jesus seeks to draw all people to Himself, forgiving their sins by His death on the cross and sanctifying them for a life of love for God and service to neighbor. Our life together centers on the Holy Mass (Divine Service), which is celebrated each Sunday at 10:00 AM.
We are a Lutheran church. This means that we are a Christian church that:
Bases its teachings on the Bible.
Emphasizes salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ and His death on the cross.
Embraces God’s Word, the sacraments, and prayer as the center of Christian worship.
Engages in acts of Christian witness and love locally, domestically, and abroad.
As a Missouri Synod church in Buckhead, we align with the mission of the LCMS:
In grateful response to God’s grace and empowered by the Holy Spirit through Word and Sacraments, the mission of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod is vigorously to make known the love of Christ by word and deed within our churches, communities and the world.
The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) is a denomination that confesses the historic, orthodox Christian faith, a faith built on “the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone” (Eph. 2:20).
The LCMS, headquartered in St. Louis, Mo., is mission-oriented and Bible-based. LCMS doctrine reflects the teachings of Dr. Martin Luther, as summarized in The Book of Concord: The Confessions of the Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Known for their hospitality, outreach, and vibrant worship, these congregations provide a place of hope and connection for residents and visitors alike. Churches in Buckhead serve not only as houses of worship but also as centers for charitable service, family support, and moral leadership. From youth programs to food drives, their impact extends well beyond Sunday mornings. But, the most important role that churches in Buckhead play is to deliver the forgiveness of sins through Jesus Christ, and that is the center of our life here at Lutheran Church of the Ascension.
